FELT RIGHT SOLUTIONS:

Conference Rooms

Conference rooms tend to fall into two categories: existing rooms adapted as a designated place for discussions, or visually-pleasing meeting spaces with lots of hard surfaces and poor acoustics. Fortunately, conference rooms often benefit greatly from absorptive materials such as Felt Right acoustic tiles. Since there are often multiple speaking and listening positions, as well as phone and video conferencing to consider, it’s recommended to add as much absorption as possible and experiment freely with placement for maximum acoustic and aesthetic benefit.

Add absorptive materials
Add absorptive materials such as soft furniture and Felt Right tiles, to reduce reverberation and improve acoustics. More absorption is generally better and should cover hard surfaces around the room according to comfort and taste.

EXPERIMENT WITH ABSORPTION PLACEMENT
Start at common reflection points like the ceiling above a conference table, large empty walls, etc. Room use may change on a per-meeting basis though, so these are ideal spaces to experiment with placement. As a bonus, Felt Right tiles can make walls useful for pinning ideas/charts, etc.
Stop Adjacent Sound
ISOLATE NOISY ADJACENT SPACES
If a noisy adjacent space is disturbing meetings, seal up non-critical gaps between the rooms (around doors, windows, etc). For through-wall vibrations, cover the entire wall with a vibration-damping material like Felt Right tiles. For more info, see the Noise from Adjacent Spaces page.
PLACEMENT FOR YOUR SPACE
When adding absorbers such as Felt Right acoustic tiles, consider these placement options.
1.
Random walls and/or patterns.
2.
Reflection points between people (see mirror trick).
3.
Reflection points between people and video/phone mic.
4.
Cover a noisy wall to make it quiet and functional (pinnable).
